Foyle Pride 2018

The Foyle Pride Committee 2018 welcome you all to this our annual (and 25th) anniversary festival. This year we reflect on 25 years of LGBT+ activism in the North West and also pay tribute to the Northern Irish Civil Rights Association that inspired many of those activists.

The committee would like to take this opportunity to salute all those who have campaigned in the past, whose bravery and courage has led to what we now know as Foyle Pride. Their dedication to the struggle inspires us to move forward in our demands for full equality.

This years parade, over the route of the original Civil Rights March of October 1968, will be led by Civil Rights activists present on that day including Bernadette McAliskey, Eamon McCann, Dermy McClenaghan, Kitty O’Kane, Michael Farrel and Finbarr O’Dochartaigh together with the present Foyle Pride Committee.

We have an eclectic programme including talks, theatre, film and plenty of partying. Come along and join in. Everyone welcome!

See the full programme here or alternatively check out our ‘Events‘ section for a day by day breakdown of what’s on.

Pride Ball and Disco with Miranda Rosenburg Band and DJ Ann Harley

Sunday 30 August, 8pm, City Hotel, Queen’s Quay, £10

Foyle Pride BallThe official Foyle Gay Pride Ball takes place in sumptuous surrounding of the City Hotel ballroom. Entry is only £10 or tables can also be booked in advance. Entertainment
will be provided by the outstanding Miranda Rosenberg and her band. It is said that some singers own the stage but Miranda Rosenberg is famous for owning the stage, the dance floor and sometimes the audience’s personal space when she performs!

US born Miranda’s musical influences were initially restricted to Christian and classical music but her later discovery of jazz and blues opened up a whole new musical soundscape and introduced her to the likes of Billie Holliday and Bessie Smith – formative influences who remained constant companions on her musical journey. Not to be missed!

The soppy, sentimental sisters in suits by Echo Echo.

We then finish off the night with the brilliant Ann Harley (Sandinos) on the decks playing classic disco and funk. Thursday night host at Sandinos Ann has established herself as one of the best and most sought after names in the city.
